Cycling Holiday FAQs

A cycling holiday can be one of the most hands-on, memorable and exciting ways to experience a new country, and our cycling holiday FAQs will help answer any of your questions.

As well as being environmentally friendly and a great way to beat the holiday calories, and you are at one with nature and your surroundings. We can’t think of a better way to explore the stunning scenery and amazing culture of South India than on our Kerala cycling holiday.

Weave your way through tea plantations, past bathing elephants and spice farms on a mixture of flat plains and challenging hills before ending your tour on the sumptuous seaside route to Mararikulam.

You’ll be accompanied by an expert cyclist who will also double as a tour guide, and a support van will carry your luggage along with spares and refreshments.

Cycling Holiday FAQs

Bikes

We provide TREK 3700 D mountain bikes, with 24 gears, Shimano shifters, disc brakes, and front suspension. Small, medium and large sizes are available.
You are welcome to bring your own bike if you’d prefer. Bear in mind that some of the roads can be quite bumpy, so suspension is an advantage, as are sturdy tyres.

Saddles

You are welcome to bring your own saddle if you’d prefer.

Pedals

Standard pedals are fitted to the bikes, but you are able to bring your own.

Equipment

Tube frame bags and water bottle holders are provided. The tour van follows the group of riders throughout the trip and carries spare cycles, a mechanic and necessary equipment. It also provides refreshments along the way and sometimes a chilled beer.

Helmets

Helmets are not provided, so please bring your own.

Is food and drink provided?

Breakfast is included in the tour, and we try to make sure that local food plays an integral part of this. Drinking water, soft drinks, juice and tea/coffee are included while riding. Refreshments such as fresh and dry fruit, biscuits, cakes and crisps are also provided, along with the occasional chilled beer!

Do I need to carry my luggage with me?

Don’t worry about carrying luggage, as it will all be carried in the accompanying tour van.

Will I be able to wash my cycling clothing?

There are laundry facilities available at the hotels if you need to wash your cycle clothing.

Who will my guide be?

The cycle guide will be an experienced cyclist who is aware of the routes and can also act as a tour guide.

Will I be fully briefed on the routes each day?

Riders are fully briefed every day about the distance covered and the terrain. Detailed information on the route is available before your holiday but may alter slightly on your tour due to road works, road closures and inclement weather.

What are the roads like on this route?

We try and avoid busy city traffic but there will be cycling on roads, so cyclists will need to be confident at this.

Is there a minimum age limit on this tour

We can accommodate guests above the age of 18.

Is there a minimum/maximum group size?

The minimum size is 2 and the maximum 16.

Are there any admission or transportation fees?

Entrance fees to historic sites, museums, temples & other exclusive events and transportation from rendezvous to final drop-off are always included in your tour price. We have given as much focus on the non-cycling activity as on cycling.
