Vanilla County, Vagamon, Kerala
Discover the Vanilla County
At the foothills of Vagamon near the Meenachil River lies the gorgeous Vanilla County, sheltered by rubber trees and spices. This eco-friendly homestay (where the owners live on-site and play host to their guests) has been approved by the Kerala Tourism Department and is close to the luscious Western Ghats, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This authentic and enchanting homestay is furnished tastefully and has spacious interiors. The home-cooked Keralan and Indian dishes you’ll be served contains spices and vegetables grown organically within the grounds, and the filter coffee and tea come from the estate’s own plantations.
The homestay is proud to focus on responsible and sustainable tourism:
“Our staff are locally employed and we promote vendors from the locality itself. We do promote organic food, we have farms that produce organic items. We have a solar water heating facility, rainwater harvesting, and vermicompost.
We run an awareness campaign, glass bottled water is supplied to each and every guest who visit us, they can take the bottle to keep inside the car or at their homes as a water bottle, just to avoid plastics.”
